Purpose

  • The FinOps exists to translate financial data into operational decisions and ensure Vinova grows with predictable margins, healthy cash flow, and disciplined cost management.
  • This role ensures that:
    • Financial forecasts are aligned with delivery and sales reality
    • Leaders understand the financial impact of operational decisions
    • Risks to margin and cash are identified early, not after the fact
  • This is NOT an accounting role and NOT a compliance role.
  • It is a decision-support and governance role embedded in operations.

Core Mission

Enable data-driven operational decisions by providing forward-looking financial insight on revenue, margin, cost, and cash.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Forecasting & Planning

The FinOps owns forecast logic and insight, not sales targets.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Build and maintain rolling forecasts for:
      • recognized revenue
      • gross margin
      • contribution margin
    • Reconcile:
      • sales pipeline (RevOps)
      • delivery plans (CDO / RMO)
      • finance actuals (CFO)
    • Identify forecast risks and assumptions early
  • Deliverables:
    • Rolling revenue & margin forecast
    • Forecast vs actual variance analysis
    • Financial assumption log

Cost & Budget Governance

The FinOps ensures cost discipline without blocking execution.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Support annual and quarterly budgeting
    • Track budget vs actual by
      • cost center
      • delivery unit
      • function
    • Analyze variances and distinguish:
      • timing vs structural issues
    • Recommend corrective actions
  • Deliverables:
    • Budget vs actual dashboard
    • Variance analysis reports
  • Cost control recommendations

Delivery Economics & Margin Protection

The FinOps safeguards delivery profitability.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Analyze project and account-level margins
    • Identify margin leakage drivers:
      • utilization mismatch
      • scope creep
      • rate erosion
      • cost overruns
  • Deliverables:
    • Contribution margin reportsLow-margin account / project watchlist

Cash Flow & Working Capital Support

The FinOps supports cash predictability, not collections execution.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Monitor DSO and billing readiness
    • Identify cash flow risks early
  • Deliverables:
    • Cash flow forecastDSO Trend analysis

Decision Support for COO & CxOs

The FinOps acts as financial translator.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Provide financial impact analysis for:
      • pricing decisions
      • hiring plans
      • delivery trade-offs
      • investment initiatives
    • Prepare options with quantified implications
  • Deliverables:
    • Decision briefs (options + financial impact)
    • Scenario analysis models
  • Executive summaries

Financial Data Integrity & Alignment

The FinOps ensures one financial truth across engines.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Align definitions and numbers across:
      • RevOps (bookings, pipeline)
      • Delivery (cost, utilization)
      • Finance (actuals)
      • investment initiatives    
    • Flag inconsistencies and root causes
  • Deliverables:
    • Data reconciliation notes
    • Definition alignment documents

Success Metrics

The role is measured on decision quality and predictability, not raw financial outcomes.

  • Key success indicators:
  • Forecast accuracy within agreed tolerance
  • Early identification of margin and cash risks
  • Reduction in budget and margin surprises
  • Adoption of financial insights by operational leaders
  • Leadership confidence in financial decision support

Required Capabilities & Experience

Must-have

  • Strong financial analysis and modelling skills
  • Experience in:
  • FP & A
  • business finance
  • consulting or operations finance
  • Ability to explain financial concept to non-finance leaders
  • Comfort influencing without authority

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in IT services / outsourcing
  • Exposure to project-based revenue models
  • Familiarity with utilization and margin mechanics
  • Advanced Excel / BI tools experience

The FinOps does NOT

  • Perform bookkeeping or accounting close
  • Approve invoices or payments
  • Own compliance or audit activities
  • Set sales targets or delivery quotas
  • Replace CFO or Finance Controller
  • The role informs and advises; executives decide.
