The first edition of Netguru Code College turned out to be a great success. About 6,600 people were interested in the event. We received 121 applications and, finally, we chose 20 eager developers to take part in the 2-week workshop. We hired four participants, who now put their skills into practice in projects for Netguru clients.

Netguru Code College 1.0.
The idea behind Netguru Code College was to get closer to the local developer community. We wanted to engage the most talented developers and create a space for them to grow their skills and to get a head start to a professional career.
The courses during the 2-week workshop focused on different aspects of Ruby on Rails development: the specifics of the framework and the language, tips on writing quality code and testing, and a primer on the most useful libraries and resources. We also included meetings with Project Managers and Quality Assurance Specialists, with Netguru’s CEO, Wiktor Schmidt, and our Head of Growth, Radek Zaleski, to let the participants get a bigger picture of the product development process and our methodologies.
The participants not only acquired valuable skills from experienced developers but also learned about the working culture in a software house – at Netguru in particular. The developers who took part in the workshops gave us positive feedback. They especially appreciated the dedication of our mentors, who did their best to impart their knowledge. They also emphasised that the workshop gave them a massive motivation boost to learn more and excel in the career path of a Ruby on Rails developer.
Winter Edition
This winter, we will organise the second edition of Netguru Code College. The rules are similar to the previous edition’s. That said, we will also implement some ideas we got from our participants’ feedback.
We welcome all coding enthusiasts who want to start off with a new programming language or have the desire to take their skills to the next level. You don’t need to be an advanced developer to join us. Our mentors will introduce you to the world of Ruby on Rails and walk you through the whole process of building a web application. We require only some technical background, basic knowledge of software development and general understanding of what Ruby, Rails. and MySQL/PostgreSQL are.
If you want to become a professional coder, but you’re not sure how to get round to doing it, Netguru Code College will be a perfect start for you. It might also be a good way to learn a new language in practice in an internationally recognised company.
We do require that you have a good command of English (B2 in writing & speaking), and you will have to be based in Poznan, Poland for the period between the 19th February and 2nd of March 2018. The workshops are free.
The workshops will take place in Netguru’s Poznan headquarters, where you will be able to take advantage of all the perks we offer to our employees. We’ve got a chillout room with a football table, FIFA, Guitar Hero, board games, and comfy sofas for you to relax. We provide an endless flow of coffee, tea, and other drinks alongside with snacks and sweets.
Finally, the mentors and other team members will provide you with feedback on your work. You will learn what your strengths are and what you should improve on. The feedback will help you grow as a developer and enhance your skills. Sounds interesting? Apply!
